To romaine, or not to romaine—that is the question.
We've decided not to romaine.
The latest E. coli warning began by singling out chopped romaine lettuce. You know, the kind sold in plastic bags—something that the Coast doesn't ever use. Yuck!
But now, the brain trust over at the CDC, has expanded its warning to cover all forms of romaine—from hearts to heads. I know... We're disappointed too!
However, at the time of this writing, the current outbreak has affected more then fifty people in sixteen states; and although nobody has died, over thirty people have been hospitalized, with at least five developing a form of kidney failure.
Enough said.
Until further notice, we will not be serving romaine.
Instead, we've sourced a beautiful little red leaf number and paired it with a bit of iceberg to add some crunch; hopefully satisfying all but the most ardent of romaine lovers among us.
Though it was an exceedingly difficult decision to make; we concluded, it would be better to disappoint you, then have to visit you in the hospital.
