Instead of becoming a LIFE magazine photographer, my boyhood dream, I became part of the first generation of Television News Cameramen for CBS News and 60:minutes.
That work always gave me the “best seat in the house” to witness, and document, many of the important events of the second-half of the 20th Century - From Popes, to Presidents, from Viet Nam, to the Vatican and beyond, as well as a National Emmy for cinematography with Charles Kuralt
Author Richard Campanella chronicled that career in his book, “The Photojournalism of Del Hall”, on sale now.
Most of the B/W photos made while I was on television assignments, are now part of a curated collection acquired by the New Orleans Museum of Art. Other photographs are in private and corporate collections.
Its all about people, my favorite subject for photographs.
